Specialist Hawking Services |
|
Our specialist hawk handlers are trained and experienced in flying live
birds of prey in order to displace nuisance birds from urban or industrial locations.
|
Using a live bird of prey works by altering the behaviour patterns
of the target species. The presence of the hawk overpopulates the area with
predators, which causes the nuisance birds to adopt a new pattern of behaviour
- away from the target site. This can take a number of visits to achieve.
However, once the target species pattern of behaviour has been altered, control
can be maintained with a programme of routine follow-up visits. |
All of the hawks used by DragonRidge Bird Control are domestically
bred and specifically trained as working birds. They are not used for hunting
or for displays. They exhibit a high degree of tolerance to outside
distractions, which means that they concentrate fully on their job as a
deterrent to nuisance birds - posing no threat to the public or to other
species. This is important, and is one of the differentiating factors between
DragonRidge and some other companies offering hawking in urban environments.
Only hawks that have been specially trained as working birds should be used
for urban bird control. |
Our dedicated falconers and hawks are accustomed to flying in a
variety of urban and industrial environments. We have worked in schools,
hospitals, factories, residential estates, shopping centres, loading bays,
train care depots and train stations as well as government buildings and
large public spaces in London. Our falconers are always well presented,
polite and knowledgeable. |
We can provide, free of charge, a survey of the problems caused
by nuisance birds at your site. Taking into account factors such as the
availability of food and roosting or nesting sites, we will design a bird
control programme to suit your requirements and your budget. |
