Magpies (Pica Pica)
Magpies (Latin pica pica) are members of the crow (corvidae) family. They
are scavengers and predators, and their perceived aggression towards smaller
birds has made them unpopular. With its distinctive black-and-white plumage
and long tail, the magpie is unmistakable. Non-breeding birds will gather
together in flocks. These omnivores and scavengers can be seen across England,
Wales and Northern Ireland - although they are more localised in Scotland
