Rook (Corvus frugilegus)
|
 |
|
The rook (Corvus frugilegus) is a member of the crow (corvidae) family. It can
be distinguished from the carrion crow by its bare, greyish-white face,
thinner beak and peaked head. Rooks are very sociable birds, and are most
usually seen in flocks in open fields, or feeding in small groups along a
roadside. They feed and roost in flocks in winter, often together with
jackdaws. They will come into town parks and
villages but usually stay
away from the middle of big towns and cities.
